The Trip
Students will spend 9 days in Mexico City learning about the impactful work of various NGOs in Mexico (nonprofit organizations). Students will volunteer for three days at the Alimentos Para Todos food bank, listen to lectures, and go on site visits. Students will learn about the architecture of the city. Mexico City’s architecture has a timeline spanning over 700 years of indigenous foundations, Spanish colonial grids, Art Deco, and dynamic 21st-century skyscrapers. Mexico City is the most populous city in North America and is one of the world's leading cultural centers. It is classified as an Alpha World City. There will be substantive content for ENV students to join this trip. With funding support from the Political Science Sean Yu Funds, the trip cost will be $1,500, which includes airfare, hotel lodging, group meals, cultural excursions, and student insurance. Students must be enrolled in PLS 3175 "NGOs & Social Service Outreach" during the Spring Semester to be eligible to go on this trip. Students will be selected for this trip on a first come first served basis. Interested students should complete the Interest Form below by October 23rd. The $500 deposit deposit for this trip will be due on November 23rd.
