                                    Italy Study Abroad: May 24-June 4, 2024
Open To All CPP Majors: This trip will be led by Political Science faculty member, Jessica Castillo. Students will spend 10 days in Italy (Rome, Florence, and Siena). Participating students will enroll in CLS 4820 during the Spring Semester 2024. The theme of this trip is "Italian Pop Culture." The trip will examine the ways in which ancient political thinkers have continuously influenced contemporary American society by exploring the ruins of Rome alongside contemporary works of pop culture to understand the interconnectedness of our current ideologies with those of the past.

Trastevere, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain

 

Florence
The Uffizi Gallery

Accademia

Duomo Cathedral
Machiavelli's Farm (where he was exiled and wrote the Prince)

Siena
The Medieval Town of Siena (a UNESCO World Heritage Center)
 

Approximate Trip Cost: The total trip cost is $3,800. Each participating PLS major/minor will receive a $500 scholarship, which means the total cost will be $3,300 for this trip. This trip is contingent upon the official approval of the campus provost.
